Garage Storage Shelving to De-Clutter Your Garage Safely
Keeping the garage in good order, and tidy enough to get the car (or cars) in comfortably without hitting any clutter, is a problem in many homes. Millions of homes in America have no space for the family vehicles; they have been turned into expensive storage sheds.
Getting to grips with garage clutter is worth putting some effort into. Apart from being able to get the car back where it belongs, most people are much happier not living in disorganized mayhem. It’s just that sometimes the storage problem seems a bit overwhelming, and getting motivated enough to get started on the task in hand is a barrier.
The important thing is to get started, and if you do not live alone, get the whole family involved in dealing with the clutter. Families with children are likely to have the biggest problem, and everyone needs to co-operate in getting things sorted out, whether those things be children’s bikes, luggage or whatever the garage clutter may be caused by. Take a good look at what is actually causing the mess, and then decide how best to store it in the garage without obstructing the car.
Once you have decided what you genuinely do need to store in the garage, then is the time to plan exactly how to go about it. Mostly, that will mean making full use of existing, or buying new, garage storage shelving, and utilizing as much of the overhead space as possible.
The scale of the storage problem, and what it will take to correct it, is what will determine how best to store things tidily. Garage storage shelving in the form of wall racks and overhead ceiling racks, such as the one pictured above, will probably be the main solutions. Free standing shelf racks may also be useful in your plans.
Just about every garage without an overhead storage system is wasting space that can be used to store household items that are causing clutter. The modern overhead garage organizers can accommodate a large amount in weight, so long as you go for products from a company that has high safety standards, you should be well on the way to getting that car back to bed each night.
Always give priority to safety when choosing shelving racks of any type. We have a tendency to put some quite heavy things out in the garage, so be sure they will be secure. It is no good having a cheap bike hoist that drops the bike on you, or worse, a young child. It may look funny on a video, but it is dangerous. Reputable companies adhere to very high safety standards, such as Saferacks, Monsterrax, and Onrax are excellent examples. They all use high quality materials, to what could be described as industrial standards.
